How to use it
- Paste or type the text you want to check.
- Read the table: one row per character, with code point (U+XXXX), category, name when it is a special character, and its UTF-8 and UTF-16 bytes.
- Highlighted rows are suspicious: invisible characters, text-direction controls, non-standard spaces, control characters and look-alikes of Latin letters.
Frequently asked questions
Is my text uploaded?
No. The analysis runs in your browser.
Why are some characters flagged?
Zero-width characters and bidirectional controls can hide text or reorder it on screen (“Trojan Source” attacks); no-break and other special spaces break searches and comparisons; Cyrillic or Greek letters that look like Latin ones are used in spoofed domains and names.
Does it show every character name?
Names are shown for the special characters worth explaining (spaces, zero-width and direction controls, BOM). For the rest you get the general category (letter, symbol, mark…) because a full name table would add about 1 MB to the page.
How complete is the look-alike detection?
It covers common Cyrillic and Greek look-alikes of Latin letters and full-width forms. It is a quick check, not the full Unicode confusables list.
Is there a size limit?
The table shows the first 5,000 characters; the counts always cover the whole text.
