Frequently asked questions
Is my text uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser.
Which encoding is used?
UTF-8. ASCII characters are one byte; accents take two, most symbols three and emoji four.
What input formats are accepted?
Hex with or without 0x, \x, spaces, commas or colons (48 65 6c, 0x48,0x65, 48656c). Binary in groups of 8 bits. Decimal numbers from 0 to 255 separated by spaces or commas.
Why does “Bytes to text” fail?
Either a value is not valid for the chosen format, or the bytes are not valid UTF-8 (for example a lone C3).
Is there a size limit?
About 2 million characters of text, or about 12 million characters of bytes.
