Frequently asked questions
Are these real people or accounts?
No. Names are picked from short built-in lists, e-mails always end in example.com (reserved for documentation), and phone numbers use ranges set aside for fiction where one exists (US 555-01xx, Germany 030 23125 xxx, France 01 99 00 xx xx).
Do the IBANs work?
They have the right length and a correct check digit, so validators accept them, but the account numbers are random and do not belong to any bank account.
Can I use the card numbers to pay?
No. They are the test numbers published by payment providers (such as 4242 4242 4242 4242). They pass the Luhn check and work only in test or sandbox modes. The expiry date and CVV are random.
Will a spreadsheet run formulas from the CSV?
Cells that start with = + - or @ are prefixed with an apostrophe, so a spreadsheet shows them as text instead of running them.
Is the data random?
Yes, from the browser’s cryptographic generator. Birth dates make the person 18 to 68 years old.
